Concerts in Sophie's Cave

Sophie's Cave is one of the most beautiful stalactite caves in the region, some even say the most beautiful. We cannot confirm this with certainty, but of course we will not deny it either. But we can say one thing for sure: The antechamber of Sophie's Cave is one of the most spectacular and atmospheric backdrops for a concert you can imagine.

Let yourself be inspired by the very special atmosphere of the cave and enjoy a cave concert that will sweep you away. The spectrum ranges from Gregorian chants by the choir "The Gregorian Voices", to blues, rock and oldies with the "Albert Koch Trio", to a journey from "Nämberch" (i.e. Nuremberg) to New York with our favorite atmospheric duo Wulli and Sonja.

Our tip: Before the 8 p.m. concerts, enjoy a relaxed, well-timed menu in our castle restaurant. Admission to the castle restaurant is at 5.30 p.m. and the menu starts at 6 p.m. Afterwards, you will have plenty of time to get to Sophie's Cave at your leisure. Nyckelharpa Journey

Thomas Roth (Nykelharpa) und Frank Tischer(Keyboard)

Thomas Roth hat sich als Ausnahme-Nyckelharpa-Spieler einen Namen gemacht. Er entwickelte einen eigenen Stil auf diesem historischen Instrument, das auch Schlüsselfidel oder Keyfiddle genannt wird und heute vor allem in der schwedischen Musik oder von Mittelaltergruppen eingesetzt wird. Seine Nyckelharpa Journey, so der Titel des Programms, verbindet Folk, Latin oder Rock-Zitate mit Klassik. Die mal kraftvollen, energetischen, mal gefühlvollen Eigenkompositionen verschmelzen zu einem unverwechselbaren Crossover-Sound, der die unterschiedlichsten Kulturen verbindet. Die Reise geht in Länder wie Peru, Spanien und Wales oder in Städte wie München und Jerusalem. Thomas Roth nimmt die Nickelharpa mit auf eine (stilistische) Weltreise.

Begleitet wird Thomas Roth, der auch als Frontmann seiner früheren Bands "Des Geyers schwarzer Haufen" und "Geyers" sowie durch Auftritte bei Tourneen von "Blackmore’s Night" in Europa und den USA bekannt ist, von Pianist Frank Tischer am Keyboard. Tischer spielt unter anderem bei der Spencer Davies Group und produziert und tourt regelmäßig mit dem Blues-Urgestein Miller Anderson, der schon in Woodstock mit dabei war.

Ein besonderes musikalisches Erlebnis in der kerzenbeleuchteten Sophienhöhle!
