Hiking

4,500 kilometers of hiking trails make Franconian Switzerland a hiking paradise. There are also countless romantic forest and hiking trails around Rabenstein Castle. For example, the 5.0 km long Promenade Trail, which King Ludwig once walked along, starts directly in front of the castle gate.

Rock Climbing

With 12,000 routes on 800 crags, the Franconian Jura is the most famous climbing area in Germany.

Canoeing

The Wiesent in the neighboring valley of Rabenstein Castle offers the opportunity for idyllic short trips as well as lively day trips in single, double or triple kayaks and canoes. Information on the various providers can be found here

Bicycle and e-bike

The Franconian Switzerland cycle path network has 58 circular and 14 long-distance cycle tours. Useful information and tours can be found here Rabenstein Castle has a charging station for e-bikes.

Breweries

With 69 family-run breweries, Franconian Switzerland has the highest density of breweries in the world.
The Haas distillery in Pretzfeld is around 20 km away. It was awarded the Federal Prize for Spirits by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) in 2016. Further information about the products, guided tours etc. can be found here

UNESCO World Heritage Margravial Opera House Bayreuth

The Margravial Opera House Bayreuth World Heritage Site has been shining in new splendor since April 2018. Located just 25 km from Rabenstein Castle, the UNESCO World Heritage Site was extensively restored and renovated over a period of five years and officially reopened in spring 2018. The imperial city of Nuremberg is approx. 60 km away. The historic old town with its half-timbered houses, craftsmen's courtyard, Germanic National Museum and various shopping opportunities offer a varied program.
